About JCHC

At the Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC), we believe that growing older should be accompanied by dignity, opportunity, and joy. That’s why we create and manage senior living communities where older adults can feel empowered, supported, and connected. With a focus on safety, independence, and purpose, we offer a range of residential options—from independent living and assisted living to luxury senior apartments and affordable subsidized housing—throughout Morris and Essex counties in New Jersey.

Founded on the timeless values of compassion, community, and respect rooted in Jewish tradition, our doors are open to all seniors, regardless of religious background. We serve a diverse population while upholding principles of tzedakah (charity), kehillah (community), and tikkun olam (repairing the world) in everything we do. Our commitment is to provide housing that not only meets physical needs but also nurtures emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

Each of our communities is thoughtfully designed to offer more than just a place to live—it’s a place to belong. Our service-enriched residences include access to wellness programs, cultural and educational activities, kosher dining options, and personalized care services. We take pride in creating engaging environments where residents can stay active, forge new friendships, and continue pursuing passions or exploring new interests.

Whether a resident prefers quiet independence or vibrant community life, we make it possible to age with grace, comfort, and choice. And because peace of mind is essential, families can rest assured knowing their loved ones are cared for by experienced professionals in a secure and welcoming setting.

For more than three decades, JCHC has been a trusted leader in senior living. As we continue to grow and evolve, our mission remains constant: to provide high-quality, affordable homes where seniors can live life to the fullest—surrounded by support, purpose, and community.

Our Values and Vision

At the Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC), our mission is deeply rooted in Jewish values that guide every aspect of our work. We are driven by chesed (kindness and love), kavod (respect for all individuals), tikkun olam (our responsibility to help repair the world), and tzedakah (charity and justice). These principles shape the inclusive, compassionate, and purpose-driven communities we create for seniors throughout the Greater Metro West area.

Guided by these values, JCHC is committed to:

  • Building high-quality, affordable residences that reflect the diverse lifestyle preferences and needs of older adults in our region.
  • Fostering supportive, vibrant communities where residents feel empowered to share life’s experiences, stay socially connected, and truly belong.
  • Offering intellectually, physically, socially, and spiritually enriching programs that allow residents to continue growing and thriving.
  • Promoting forward-thinking innovations that help seniors successfully age in place and adapt to life’s transitions with dignity and independence.
  • Cultivating a strong sense of purpose and pride among our staff, board members, and volunteers, recognizing their vital role in our shared mission.
  • Nurturing a culture of philanthropy that sustains our work and ensures future generations of seniors have access to affordable, meaningful housing.

At JCHC, we’re not just building residences—we’re building community, dignity, and opportunity for seniors at every stage of life.

Our History

Since our founding in 1982, the Jewish Community Housing Corporation (JCHC) has remained dedicated to providing high-quality, service-enriched housing for older adults in northern New Jersey. As a nonprofit organization with deep roots in the community, we proudly own and manage over 470 apartments across four senior living communities located in Morris and Essex counties.

Over the decades, JCHC has grown to meet the evolving needs of seniors by offering a variety of living options tailored to different lifestyles, budgets, and levels of care. From independent and assisted living to memory care and supportive on-site services, we provide safe, welcoming environments where residents—including those with special needs—can live with dignity, purpose, and connection.

Through every stage of our journey, our focus has remained constant: to create vibrant, inclusive communities where seniors can thrive.
